Chester, Lingfield and the summer jumps…

‘Packed schedule for the week ahead. The flat season continues its development whilst the summer jumps campaign gets fully underway.

On the flat my main meetings of interest this week are at Chester and Lingfield. The three day Chester Vase meeting starts on Wednesday. Last year the fixture was run on quite testing ground, this year conditions look more favourable. Little rain in the forecast and increasing temperatures should see the ground ride faster than the current going report of Good, good to soft in places.

On Saturday Lingfield stage their trial races for the forthcoming Epsom Classics. Both Chester and Lingfield will provide important future pointers.

Plenty of jumps action throughout the week. The meetings at Fakenham, who have made significant course alternations, along with Market Rasen, the mixed meeting at Haydock, Hexham and the two cards on Sunday at Ludlow and Plumpton will be of particular interest.

Dry and warm weather for most in the coming days. We can expect some course watering in order to maintain decent racing ground.

Whilst last week was very quiet on the betting front it proved to be an informative and rewarding time. Lots of debuts on the flat and we had a high value winner over the jumps. I had our bet in at 4/1 on my private tissue against the double figure odds on offer in the early prices. True betting value is an essential part of achieving long term success.’
