Slow start – Big finish…

‘A subdued start to the coming week which increases in quality from Friday onwards.

Following the abandonment of Ffos Las after heavy rain made the track unraceable we commence the week with the remaining meeting at Plumpton on Good to Soft ground. Just the one fixture on Tuesday from Southwell who will be monitoring conditions with low overnight temperatures forecast.

Some good prize money on offer at both Haydock and Ludlow on Wednesday. The ground at Haydock is currently on the heavy side of Soft. A few interesting entries at both courses. Leicester, Market Rasen and Wincanton on Thursday. Leicester have a couple of dry days before the meeting which could improve the testing conditions we saw last Sunday.

We then go into three consecutive days of higher quality jumps action led by the opening day of the Tingle Creek meeting at Sandown. The feature races on Friday are a pair of Grade Two Novices’ contests. Decent prize money at Exeter who will be hoping their problems in November can be put behind them. We also have racing from Sedgefield.

Last Saturday was the most competitive days racing of the season to date; this Saturday holds more appeal from a betting perspective. At Sandown we have Two Grade One races with the Henry Eighth and the Tingle Creek along with a Listed. Plus the Becher meeting from Aintree, Welsh National trial at Chepstow and a decent card from Wetherby.

Two more interesting fixtures on Sunday with a valuable card at Kelso and the Peterborough Chase meeting from Huntingdon to round off what could be a busy week. Also over the weekend we have a few high profile races at Navan and Cork worth noting.

Unsettled pattern to the weather ahead. After a mild weekend the temperature significantly dips as we go into the new week. Many areas are likely to see rain with a heavy downpour forecast across the country towards the weekend.
