A week of two halves…

‘Defined split between the summer jumps and flat this week with the major highlight at the latter being the Doncaster St Leger meeting. At the start of the week my focus will be on the three jumps fixtures before attention turns to the flat.

We start the week with the most northerly and southerly racecourses in the country. From the north there is a competitive eight race card from Perth. Some five hundred miles south we have the meeting at Newton Abbot. The Devon track has seen plenty of rain over the past few days and the ground will be testing. The final jumps fixture for the week is a late afternoon start on Wednesday at Worcester. Then the summer jumps takes yet another break. I cannot see who benefits from this stop-start approach.

The Doncaster St Leger meeting starts on Thursday with the final classic of the season being run on the Saturday. There are a number of Group races that will be of interest. Plus we have a good deal of higher quality flat action in Ireland.

With there being no summer jumps racing for the first four days and limited quality on the flat it was very quiet last week producing just the one bet which added to the latest profits. I had a number of valuable meetings with contacts in preparation for the imminent main jumps campaign. I will be stepping up that preparation in the coming weeks.
