BBC1 recorded a feature on Steve's work as a professional backer. It gives a look at the comprehensive racing analysis required, interviews two of the members of the service and Steve spends a day at the races with former Footballer of the Year, Kenny Burns.

Steve’s Strategy

‘Hard work, selectivity, discipline and above all – true betting value.

I maintain a comprehensive horse racing database which forms the basis for my private ratings and own pricing of every race of interest on a given day. It is a lot of work but it is essential to identify proper value. Without it you are betting blind.

You should only bet when the odds are in your favour. Be selective and never chase losses. Always taking a level-headed long term approach.

My strategy through the summer months is to concentrate on the higher quality flat and summer jumps. There is plenty of low grade racing that is bookmaker fodder and should be avoided. Through the seven month main jumps campaign, the emphasis is on National Hunt racing.’
