Good looking week ahead…

‘Interesting and informative week on both codes.

Kelso provide the solitary jumps fixture on Monday. The card is boosted by the rescheduling of one of the Go North finals lost when their meeting was abandoned earlier this month. The other two finals from that meeting will be run at the course on May 8th.

With Newton Abbot having been already called off due to waterlogging, the only jumps action on Tuesday comes from Ffos Las. Currently the going is Heavy.

We then go into a busy looking few days with the Cheltenham April meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. The Thursday card being Mares only. Some good prize money on offer and there should be opportunities for us. Packed Friday with three fixtures headlined by the start of the Scottish Grand National meeting at Ayr. We also have Fontwell and an evening card from Exeter.

Second day at Ayr on Saturday with the features being the Scottish National and Champion Hurdle. Willie Mullins has targeted both races as he looks to increase his lead in the British trainers’ championship. Bangor provide the other jumps fixture.

Stratford and a decent card at Wincanton conclude the week.

After a short spell of dry and warm weather the forecast goes into reverse as we start the new week. Unsettled and colder weather return with the prospect of improvement towards the end of the week.

With the ground in some areas becoming firmer the likelihood of the faster ground horses getting their preferred conditions increases. It could be a useful factor in my betting plans.

Informative week on the flat with the three day Newmarket Craven meeting starting Tuesday followed by the Spring Trials meeting from Newbury on Friday and Saturday. Musselburgh stage a valuable card on Sunday. At this early point in the flat season I will be maintaining a watching brief.

Looking back at last week. Three excellent days of top quality racing at Aintree. Unfortunately true betting value was scarce. We did however pick up winners from the undercards whilst the focus was on the big meeting.

Good looking week ahead which should provide opportunities.’
