Strong end to August as we head into September…

‘Looking at the week ahead the main action will be from Friday onwards. Under the revised summer jumps schedule for this year we have no jumps fixtures until Bangor race on Friday followed by a late afternoon start at Stratford on Saturday and then Fontwell on Sunday.

Best quality on the flat is from the Haydock Saturday card with the feature being the valuable Group One Betfair Sprint. We also have a pair of Group Three races on the All Weather track at Kempton the same day plus a Listed at York on Sunday.

Going further into September the following week provides us with the final classic of the season with the Doncaster St. Leger meeting and unfortunately yet another break in an already fragmented summer jumps schedule. I really hope some serious and innovative thinking goes into planning the summer jumps programme for next year. Continuity and definition must be the essential elements.

Whilst the early part of the coming week holds no betting interest for me, it does provide the opportunity to step up my preparations for the forthcoming main jumps campaign. We had a low turnover August rounded off by two good winners which included a higher strength bet who won impressively.

My immediate aim is a strong end to the summer and then to go into the seven month main jumps campaign fully prepared.’
